Participants will tour portions of the state forest in search of notable resident species. These include Red-shouldered & Broad-winged Hawks, Pileated Woodpecker, Acadian, Alder, and Willow Flycatchers, 10-15 warbler species including Mourning, Canada, Hooded, Pine, and Cerulean Warblers, as well as Grasshopper, Henslow’s, and Clay-colored Sparrows. Occasionally, we encounter late migrants such as Olive-sided and Yellow-bellied Flycatchers.
A state park entrance fee is required at some sites we visit. Bring good walking shoes, because there will be quite a bit of hiking, though leisurely. Most trails are well groomed.
Please note that pre-registration on the WSO website is now required for field trip attendees, which includes the signing of waivers. Trip details will be emailed to registrants upon registration.
May 6 - WSO member registration opens
May 23 - Nonmember registration opens (if spots remain)
