The Great Backyard Bird Count is an opportunity for birders and citizen scientists from around the world to to submit birding data. During the four-day event in February, birders are encouraged to count the birds they observe and submit their counts online. This data is crucial for understanding the current state of bird populaitons and enables scientists and conservationists to work more effectively. The Wisconsin Society for Ornithology encourages members to participate in the annual count! The Great Backyard Bird Count is co-organized by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, National Audubon Society, and Birds Canada. For more information, visit the Great Backyard Bird Count website.
