VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO STUDY BREEDING SWAMP SPARROWS
Volunteers are needed to participate in a research project evaluating Swamp Sparrow reproductive success at restored and natural wetlands. Study sites are located in Columbia and Dodge counties, approximately 45 minutes northeast of Madison. The field season extends from May 26 through August 1, 2008.
Field work primarily involves nest searching, recording Swamp Sparrow behaviors, and measuring wetland vegetation.
We typically work from 7:00 a.m. to early afternoon, depending on the weather. You should be in good physical condition as our work involves walking or wading through dense wetland vegetation.
Prior experience with wetland bird identification, mist netting and banding, and/or wetland plant identification is desirable but not required.
If you are interested in participating or would like additional information about our project, please contact Kathleen Coates at kecoates@purdue.edu.
